The Lanzhou Center for Theoretical Physics
Department of Theoretical Physics in Lanzhou University was established in 1950s, and during the past decades numerous highly-talented individuals have studied in the department. The department has gained wide recognition from all over the world. The development of department has been enforced by the establishment of “Theoretical Physics Exchange Platform” since 2010, which has received continuous support from National Natural Science Foundation of China as “Theoretical Physics Fund” for more than 10 years, as well as the supports from experts worldwide. The department has achieved impressively on recruiting faculties for conducting scientific researches and training personnel, etc.
In 2021, the platform has been upgraded to "Lanzhou Center for Theoretical Physics". This is the third theoretical physics research center in China funded by the NSFC Theoretical Physics Grant. "Lanzhou Center for Theoretical Physics" is based on Lanzhou University, and some universities in Gansu, Shanxi, Ningxia, Qinghai, Xinjiang and other provinces are the cooperation units.
There are five research fields involved in the center:
1. Gravity theory and black hole;
2. Particle and quantum field theory;
3. Condensed matter theory;
4. Quantum Optics and Quantum States of Matter;
5. Statistical physics and quantum small systems.
Research faculties (including external core members and guest members) are grouped as five academic teams based on their research fields, and each team has a convener to coordinate the progress of teams so to reach the goal of the center. The daily routines of the center are administrated by a full-time service team for assisting faculties on some matters involved in academic-exchange-program’s scientific-research, or etc.
The executive committee includes 18 representatives from Lanzhou University and other universities in Northwest region of China, and their names are listed as following (in alphabetical order of last names):
