整个科学史就是理论和观测之间不断产生矛盾、又不断解决的过程。我们构建能够成功解释物理现象的理论，直到更新、更精确的观测数据出现，揭示出与我们理论的矛盾，从而迫使我们修改或替换它们。21世纪天体物理学和宇宙学取得的显著进展带来了重大的紧张关系，提供了强烈的迹象，表明我们需要在引力和宇宙学领域引入新物理，因此我们可能正接近一场科学革命。

The whole history of science is a history of tensions between theoretical predictions and observations. We construct theories that can successfully explain physical phenomena, until new and more precise observational data appear, revealing tensions with our theories, which forces us to modify or replace them. The remarkable progress made in astrophysics and cosmology in the 21st century brings significant tensions, providing strong indications that we need new physics in gravity and cosmology, and hence that we may be close to a scientific revolution.

Emmanuel N. Saridakis is a cosmologist whose research focuses on thefundamental questions of our universe. With over 350 publications, over30.000 citations, an h-index exceeding 100, and 6 books, his work spanstopics like cosmology, theories of gravity, dark energy, observationaldata analysis, black holes, gravitational waves, early universe, etc. Hehas held academic positions across three continents, including U.S.A.,France, China, and Chile, and currently serves as a Research Director atthe National Observatory of Athens. Prof. Saridakis has been recognizedwith multiple awards, and according to the famous Stanford University listof the most influential scientists worldwide, he is in the top 0.02% ofworld scientists within all fields. He participates in the ESA’skey LISAmission, in NASA’s Psyche mission, and he is the representative of Greecein many COST Actions of the European Union. He has given more than 200talks for the broader audience around the world.
