报告摘要:

Quark matter is the form of matter where quarks and gluons are deconfined. This kind of matter was once filled the early universe and is recreated by heavy-ion collision experiments at RHIC and LHC. This area of study is sometime refered to as “the condensed matter physics of QCD” since it not only aims at understanding quark-gluon interaction in many-body systems but also investigates problems which could help to answer questions at the frontiers of condensed matter physics today.

In this talk, I will briefly review the progress in investigating quark matter in the last decade and discuss two related what-next questions: 1) what are the quantum properties of quark matter, and 2) how does such a matter emerge from quark-gluon interaction? Some recent progress towards addressing those questions will be presented, including a newly-discovered macroscopic quantum effect, namely spin polarized by the shear force and a new scenario in characterizing quark-matter’s response at non-hydrodynamic and non-perturbative scale.
