Superradiance, coined by Dicke originally for emission enhancement in a coherent medium, is a collection of phenomena where radiation is amplified during a physical process. Black hole superradiance has been extensively studied, thanks to its relevance to gravitational theories, astrophysics and particle physics. In this talk, I will show that Q-balls and boson stars can also superradiate. Q-balls are non-topological solitons which are rotating in the internal space, first proposed by T.D. Lee et al. They are dark matter candidates and may also play other roles in particle physics and cosmology. We show that Q-balls, although stable in isolation, can superradiantly enhance radiation impinging on them. We show that Q-ball superradiance is due to a new mechanism involving interplay of multiple modes and coherent rotation in internal field space. The same mechanism also works for boson stars, another candidate for dark matter of the astronomical sizes.

报告人简介:

周双勇,中国科学技术大学教授。2012年获University of Nottingham博士学位,之后先后在SISSA、Case Western Reserve University和Imperial College做博士后研究。从事量子场论、引力及粒子物理等方面(特别是交叉方向)的研究,近期研究重点为有效场论/S矩阵bootstrap、SMEFT、非拓扑孤子与早期宇宙相变等。已发表论文50余篇,被引用3000余次。2017年受邀为Reviews of Modern Physics撰写关于引力子质量的综述文章。2022年受邀为美国物理学会粒子与场分部撰写关于紫外对红外物理约束的白皮书。2018年起受邀担任Elsevier杂志Results in Physics的编委。
