Black holes have been accepted as thermodynamic systems ever since Hawking's discovery of black  hole radiation. By studying the equation of state of anti-de Sitter (AdS) black holes, many  interesting phase transitions were found in the field now known as black hole Chemistry; for  example, charged AdS black holes display critical phenomenon similar to the liquid-to-gas  transition of Van der Waals fluid. However it is unclear how to interpret the pressure P term,  which is proportional to the cosmological constant, in the holographic context. Recently Visser  argued that considering the variations of the gravitational constant G is essential to achieve  a duality between the CFT first law on the boundary and the black hole first law in the bulk.  In this talk, I will briefly review his argument, and rewrite the bulk first law in a new form  containing both variations of P and C, the central charge of the dual CFT. This leads to a new  understanding of the Van der Waals behaviour of charged AdS black holes, where the phase  changes are governed by C instead of P.

丛弯,滑铁卢大学物理学院在读博士,导师 Robert B. Mann教授。2016年本科毕业于新加坡国立大学,2017年研究生毕业于剑桥大学。主要研究方向为黑洞热力学和相对论量子信息。
